Sugarloaf Woman’s Library

Sugarloaf Woman’s Library

When we began the library makeover, it was dark stained cabinetry. I really wanted a light and airy feel for my client, something like the Cape Cod Interiors from the movie Something’s Gotta Give. We painted the cabinetry, walls, and tray ceiling in shades of dove gray, beige and greige, which lightened and brightened the space immeasurably. The rug is wool construction from Surya Rugs–a go-to for many of my designs–and the desk is from Caracole Home. The Capiz Shell chandelier lends warmth and texture while anchoring the space from on high. It is a Regina Andrew (Home Philosophy) fixture. My signature sunburst mirror is, in this case, a fretwork design that reinforces the lattice motif from the drapery. I consider the sunburst mirror a win-win home decor item–a timeless icon of light, energy, and home that comes in so many different styles reflecting the times, the client, and something that doesn’t date.
